Fusil Antichar Lourde de 28 mm s.Pz.B. 41 Allemand de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale
ESCI Parachutistes Allemands avec un fusil antichar lourd de 28 mm sPzB 41. The Airfix model of the sPzB 41 was included in the first issue figurine sets of Infanterie Allemande et Afrikakorps Allemande which were upgraded et re-issued in the early 1970s. Les fusils antichar taper-bore were not included in the re-issued figurine sets. The small wheels are from an Airfix Spitfire fighter aircraft, but they are still too big for the airborne version of the sPzB 41. Le fusil antichar lourd de 28 mm Schwere Panzerbüchse 41 was based on le fusil antichar de 20 mm Solothurn S.18/100. The weapon had a tapering bore which reduced the soft metal jacket of the projectile from 28 mm to 20 mm. The tapering barrel construction resulted in a very high muzzle velocity, et increased armour penetration which exceeded that of the fusil antichar de 20 mm by about 300 percent. Despite its superb armour penetration characteristics, the 28 mm sPzB 41 was considered obsolete by 1942, when the Allies replaced their flimsy chars légers avec better protected medium tank designs. Production of the sPzB 41 ceased en 1943, et remaining fusils antichar s.Panzerbüchse 41 were handed down to unités de l’armée italienne fighting en Afrique du Nord. Les transports de troupes légers Schützenpanzerwagen 250/11 allemands were armed avec the sPzB 41, et a number of automitrailleuses légères Sd.Kfz. 221 had their light machine gun replaced avec the more potent fusil antichar taper-bore. L’armée britannique used fusils antichar sPzB 41 capturés en Afrique du Nord, as long as sufficient ammunition for it could be found. Maquettes disponibles

Mounted on semi-chenillés légers blindés et automitrailleuses, the 28 mm Schwere Panzerbüchse 41 may come as an unpleasant surprise to joueurs de guerre who easily confuse this weapon avec the comparatively harmless canon antichar de 37 mm Pak 35/36 allemand.
