Canon Antichar de 76,2 mm Ordnance QF 17 pounder Britannique, 1942–1945
Development of the 17 pdr gun began en 1940 when the need for a more powerful canon antichar became apparent. Les first canons de 17 pounder were rushed to Tunis in Mai 1942 to fight les chars Tiger allemands deployed there. Since the split trail carriage of the 17 pdr gun had not reached the production stage, these canons de 17 pounder totifs were mounted on available 25 pdr chassis as a temporary measure. The resulting 17/25 pdr gun was codenamed "Pheasant". The production version of the 17 pdr gun first saw service au course de la campagne d’Italie en 1943. Wheeled gun tractors had difficulty moving et deploying le canon antichar lourd QF 17 pounder, et obsolete chars Crusader were eventually converted to serve as 17 pdr A/T gun tractors. There are no dedicated Crusader Gun Tractors a l’échelle 1/72, but the Hasegawa Crusader III tank is suitable for conversions. Maquettes disponibles
